Ace Academy Giving Tree Event

We will again be having a giving tree this year to support the Ace Academy, which is a school for disadvantaged kids and adults. At the promotion ceremony, we will have a Giving Tree, in which you can choose a child with the gift they would like. These kids are very warm, loving & don’t ask for much. Last year, many of them asked for a coloring book & crayons or a stuffed animal. If you do take a tag or two, please be sure to purchase that gift, wrap and place the tag on the gift. If you do not, that person will not receive a gift when the cadets deliver the gifts on Monday, Dec 17th at 1:30pm. High School students should be out of school by 12pm.

Who: anyone can purchase a giving tree gift and bring it to the squadron meeting by Thursday, December 13th.

What: Community Service

When: Select a tag or two from our tree on Nov 29th promotion ceremony. Bring wrapped gifts in during any meetings until Dec 13th. We will then deliver gifts on Monday, December 17, 2018 12:40pm-3:30pm

Summer Encampment
@Camp Blanding
June 24th-July 1, 2017
updated - 5/25/2017

EVENT DESCRIPTION

Encampments are week long activities that serve to build a foundation for cadets from which to build their Civil Air Patrol experience. These week long events provide in-depth orientation to Civil Air Patrol and the United States Air Force. First time cadets can expect to be challenged both mentally and physically during a busy and exciting week of hands on leadership development training, aerospace events, and local site activities. Cadets returning as staff will be challenged even further through the leadership roles they will fill and staff duties they will perform. All cadets will have the opportunity to be introduced to the military, learn to overcome challenges, develop time-management skills, enhance their interpersonal skills, and have a great time.

Eligibility

To be eligible to attend encampment, cadets must have completed the Curry Achievement and have been promoted to Cadet Airman (C/Amn) prior to application submission. Staff applicants must have earned the Wright Brothers Award (C/SSgt) and have it posted to e-services prior to application submission.

Dining staff sets up tables and distribute food/drinks. Donations Room staff organize and distribute non-food items the guests may require. Afterwards, everyone cleans up.
